All 4WD variants of the Cherokee come with Jeep's Selec-Terrain traction management system with Auto, Snow, Sport, and Sand/Mud. The Trailhawk trim adds Rock mode to the Selec-Terrain system.

There are two gas options for the 2021 Ford Escape. The standard engine is a turbocharged 1.3L I3 cylinder that pushes out 181 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque. An available option on higher trim levels is a 2.0L turbocharged I4 that cranks out 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Like the Cherokee, front-wheel drive comes standard, while all-wheel drive is an available option. However, unlike the Cherokee, all-wheel drive isn't standard on any of the trims. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. For the fuel efficiency seekers, the Escape is also available with a hybrid engine.

There are five main trim levels for the 2021 Jeep Cherokee, as well as the 80th Anniversary Edition with commemorative badging and unique Granite Crystal accents. The 2021 Ford Escape has five trim levels: S, SE, SEL, SE Sport Hybrid, and Titanium Hybrid.
