2022 Grand Wagoneer vs Lincoln Navigator

Searching for a new luxury SUV is not always an easy task! It's important to find a vehicle that serves the needs of you and your family, all while fitting seamlessly into your lifestyle. A premium large SUV should offer the style and grace you expect from a luxury vehicle, without sacrificing capability. To help you narrow down your search and navigate this competitive market, we'll be taking a closer look at two options. The first is the 2022 Grand Wagoneer, which is part of a new premium extension of the Jeep brand, that is pioneering its own luxury collection. The second option is the 2021 Lincoln navigator, which has some exciting features of its own. Continue reading down below to learn which SUV best suits your needs!

2022 Grand Wagoneer Power & Handling

The 2022 Grand Wagoneer lineup consists of four trim levels, the Series I, II, and III as well as a black-accented sub-trim called Obsidian. Each of these models is powered by a muscular 6.4-liter V-8 engine which pumps out 471 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque. This engine pairs with a TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission, which helps provide optimal availability of low-end torque, perfect for trailering and crawling over off-road terrain. Grand Wagoneer SUVs come with standard 4-wheel drive with Quadra-Trac II and Quadra-Drive II 4X4 systems depending on the model you choose. The available Heavy Duty Trailer Tow package helps the Grand Wagoneer reach its maximum towing capacity of nearly 10,000 pounds, while the Advanced All-Terrain Group adds tow hooks, skid plates, and Selec-Terrain Traction Management.

2021 Lincoln Navigator Power & Handling

The 2021 Lincoln Navigator is available in three trim levels, the base trim, the Reserve, and the Black Label. Each trim level utilizes a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain provides the Navigator with 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. Due to its large stature, the Navigator needs all the oomph it can get to keep its acceleration from feeling sluggish. When properly equipped with the available Trailer Tow package, the 2021 Lincoln Navigator has a maximum towing capacity of 8,700 pounds, which falls over 1,000 pounds short of the Grand Wagoneer. The adaptive suspension offers stability, though there are no true off-roading features available to the Navigator like there are for the Grand Wagoneer.

2022 Grand Wagoneer Features & Design

The 2022 Grand Wagoneer features an upright design with wide acoustic laminated glass on the windshield, premium tinted windows, and a standard tri-pane panoramic sunroof. Grand Wagoneer badging is visible from all angles on the exterior, with a "Wagoneer" emblem spanning the front of the vehicle just above the knurl-patterned grille. Inside, the Grand Wagoneer features standard Nappa leather interior with quilted Palermo leather on upper trim levels. In terms of tech, this SUV offers a 12-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen with wireless Apple, Android, and Amazon Alexa integration. There's also 4G LTE Wi-Fi, wireless charging, over-the-air navigation updates, and available displays for the front passenger as well as the rear seats. Passengers can enjoy TV and movies with new Amazon Fire for Auto, and there's even an industry-exclusive Reference Entertainment System from McIntosh featuring 23 speakers and 3D surround sound technology.

2021 Lincoln Navigator Features & Design

The 2021 Lincoln Navigator has a tall front grille with the Lincoln logo sitting in the center. The overall presence of the Navigator is large and rectangular, and can come across as a bit boxy due to the wide and relatively flat sides. Standard power running boards aid entry into the vehicle, and the interior seats either seven or eight passengers depending on the configuration you choose. The top Black Label trim level features standard leather upholstery while the base trim level has imitation leather on its seats. On the dashboard, you'll find a 10-inch central touchscreen console, a Revel Ultima audio system, and a wireless smartphone charging pad. Additional features include LED headlights, a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

Conclusion:

Both these premium large SUVs offer a long list of exciting features for comfort, convenience, and style. They both seat up to eight passengers, and both aim to provide a luxury experience for everyone on board. However, the SUV that truly delivers on this promise is the 2022 Grand Wagoneer. Its capability is undeniable, and it offers premium materials, cutting-edge technology, and over 120 safety features across the board.
