Driving in the Spring

Spring is finally here with summer on the way! It's nice to have days where you can roll the windows down in your car and breathe that fresh air, right? While driving in nicer weather is indeed refreshing it can also be a hindrance. How so? Distracted driving such as not keeping your senses wide open! When driving in nice weather, many seem to drive as if they don't have a care in the world which can be dangerous to themselves and those driving around them. Examples, flying through stop signs, red lights, cutting other motorists off in traffic, not stopping for buses, and the list could go on.

As the weather gets nicer in the days ahead, here are some important tips to remember for spring and summer driving. Keep in mind these tips also include dangerous driving like rain, flooding, more animal activity, etc.:
  • During rain and thunderstorms, be sure your lights are working properly.
  • Check tire pressure
  • Slow down and drive carefully! This is for animals such as deer, etc. Always be alert.
  • Keep your eyes out for bad road conditions like pot holes, etc. Winter elements tear up the roads pretty badly which can do damage to your tires and cost you lots of money.
  • Don't drive with your radio up very loud. This is a common issue with nicer weather, people love to turn up their radios loud with their windows down. A big distraction for everyone involved.
  • Most important of all, don't drink and drive!! This can also apply to texting and driving as well.

Let's be safe out there and be good examples for new drivers!!
